1. Introduction

In these Terms and Conditions:

    • “Select Tutors” refers to the business and people running the Select Tutors website;

    • “Tutors” refers to anyone qualified and experienced to provide tuition who contacts Select Tutors to be introduced to a person or group seeking tuition, either at our Educational Centre(s) or at the client’s premises;

    • “Clients” refers to anyone using the Select Tutors website intending to enter into an agreement, written or verbal, with a tutor for tuition services.

We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time by posting changes on the website. It is your responsibility to review them regularly to ensure you are aware of the latest version.

2. Terms and Conditions for Tutors

2.1 Service Overview

Select Tutors provides a promotional service for tutors offering private tuition or work within our Educational Centre(s). When contacted by a prospective client, Select Tutors will:

    • Contact suitable tutors by email or phone to discuss requirements and availability;

    • Upon the tutor’s agreement, share contact details with the student.

2.2 Tutor Eligibility

Tutors must:

    • Be aged 21 or over;

    • Be fully qualified to teach in the UK (holding a relevant degree, PGCE, or QTS).

2.3 Client Suitability

We endeavour to ensure, but cannot guarantee, the suitability of any client introduced. Select Tutors accepts no liability for loss, damage, or compensation arising directly or indirectly from any act or omission by a client introduced to a tutor.

2.4 Tutor Responsibilities

Tutors providing one-to-one home tuition must:

    • Notify Select Tutors immediately upon accepting a client;

    • Treat all arrangements as permanent unless otherwise specified;

    • Pay the applicable monthly commission fee to Select Tutors three working days before the end of the month.

Tutors must maintain professional conduct, including punctuality, reliability, and appropriate attire for teaching.

2.5 Commission Fees

    • Select Tutors charges a £7.50 per hour commission for each tutoring session.

    • Example: Four one-hour sessions = £30 commission for that month.

    • If teaching multiple clients, the total commission applies across all sessions.

    • Tutors who do not wish to be introduced to new clients must notify Select Tutors before the first working day of the month.
    • Tutors working with our affiliated centres are welcome to contact Select Tutors via email or post for the most up-to-date fee information.

Failure to pay commission on time constitutes a breach of these Terms and may lead to termination of registration and legal recovery of owed fees.

2.6 Tutor Status

Tutors are self-employed subcontractors, not employees of Select Tutors.
As such, tutors are responsible for:

    • Their own Tax and National Insurance contributions;

    • Providing an up-to-date Enhanced DBS Disclosure (required for teaching anyone under 17);

    • Their own insurance coverage, including vehicle use for travel to clients’ homes.
    • As you operate on a self-employed basis, statutory holiday pay does not apply, in line with the Working Time Regulation 1998, which covers employees and workers rather than self-employed individuals.

2.7 Liability

Select Tutors is not liable for losses, injury, or death resulting from the tutor’s or client’s negligence.

2.8 Privacy and Data Use

Select Tutors respects personal privacy. Information collected is used to promote tutors’ services.
We may contact users about our products or services but will not share data with third parties without prior consent.

Information may be disclosed for legal reasons, to protect our rights, or to prevent unlawful activity.

2.9 Intellectual Property

All intellectual property, including trademarks, designs, and website content, remains the property of Select Tutors.
Reproduction, copying, or redistribution without prior consent is strictly prohibited.

2.10 References and Testimonials

Select Tutors may contact clients for tutor feedback. Testimonials may be used for marketing, but personal details will remain confidential unless otherwise approved.

3. Terms and Conditions for Clients

3.1 Service Overview

Select Tutors strives to ensure accurate tutor information, but does not guarantee completeness or accuracy. Tuition may take place at the clients’ residency, online, or at the Educational centre(s).

3.2 Client Responsibilities

    • Clients are encouraged to verify the tutors’ qualifications and enhanced DBS documentation, which are available upon written request.
    • If dissatisfied, clients may request another tutor without extra charge, though completed lessons must still be paid for.

    • Clients are not bound to a set number of sessions.

3.3 Rates and Payment

    • Tuition rates are fixed by Select Tutors and may not be renegotiated with the tutor.

    • Any attempt to alter rates should be reported to Select Tutors.

    • Rates are reviewed annually to remain competitive.

3.4 Liability

Select Tutors is not responsible for:

    • Scheduling arrangements between tutors and clients;

    • Academic outcomes or student performance;

    • Any losses, injury, or death resulting from negligence.

3.5 Privacy and Data Use

Select Tutors respects your privacy. Data collected is used only for tuition promotion and internal communication.
We do not share personal information with third parties without prior consent.

Information may be disclosed for legal reasons or to protect our legal rights.

3.6 Use of Cookies

Select Tutors Limited (“we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website to enhance user experience, improve functionality, and analyse website performance.

By accessing and continuing to use our website, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Cookie Policy and consent to our use of cookies in accordance with this policy, unless you have disabled them via your browser settings or any cookie management tool that’s available.

3.7 Intellectual Property

All website materials and designs remain the property of Select Tutors.

You expressly understand and agree that:

    • Your use of this website is at your sole risk.

    • Select Tutors does not warrant that the website, its servers, or communications are free of viruses or harmful components.
